BANGOR – Douglas B. Smith, 34, passed peacefully in his sleep Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007, at his home. He was born Jan. 28, 1973, the son of Wellington N. Jr. and Peggy A. (Ellis) Smith. It was evident in Doug’s careers and hobbies that he had a love for the automotive field. He ran his own business, Doug’s Auto Shop for several years and was also a manager at Atlantic Beef for Mike Phillips for the last five years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was a member of several motorcycle organizations in which he was highly respected by all members. Doug enjoyed staying fit and did so by body building and lifting weights with his friends. He is survived and will be sadly missed by his mother, Peggy Clark of Alton; sister, Caroline Smith and her daughter, Kayla, of Brewer; grandmother, Joyce Ellis of Alton; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many close friends. He was predeceased by his father, Wellington N. Smith Jr.; grandparents, Wellington N. Sr. and Rose Smith; and grandmother, Raymond Ellis. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at the Abundant Life Church, 1404 Broadway, Bangor, with Pastor Josh Damon officiating.
