PALMYRA – Douglas E. Tibbetts, 72, died Feb. 26, 2007, at his residence after a long illness. He was born Aug. 23, 1934, in Hartland, the son of John K. and Ruth D. (Estes) Tibbetts. He attended Palmyra schools and was a 1953 graduate of Hartland Academy. Doug was employed as a truck driver working for O’Donnell’s Express, Fox-N-Ginn and Yellow Freight for many years. He married Jean (Sherwood) Dec. 7, 1991, in Palmyra. He enjoyed the outdoors especially while hunting and fishing with his good friends. During his illness he enjoyed watching for deer and any other wildlife that would appear. He is survived by his wife, Jean M. Tibbetts of Palmyra; two stepsons and their wives, Linwood and Chris Wilson of Auburn and Scott and Missy Wilson of Clinton; two stepdaughters, Lori Wilson of Palmyra and Lisa Kramer and her husband, Kraig, of Pittsfield; two brothers and their wives, David and Bea Tibbetts of Bangor and Blaine and Nellie Tibbetts of Newport; two stepbrothers, Robert Landry and his wife, Dianne, of St. Albans and David Boyce of Benton; a stepsister, Barbara Boyce of Benton; 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter, Susan C. Tibbetts. Doug’s family give special thanks to his caregivers, Holly, Terry and Betty. At Doug’s request there are no public services at this time.
