BANGOR – Dudley Ball Tyson, M.D., 91, died Feb. 23, 2008, at a Bangor health care facility. He was born Dec. 31, 1916, in Augusta, the son of Dr. Forrest Clark Tyson and Margaret (Matheson) Tyson. He was a graduate of Cony High School, Class of 1934; Bowdoin College, Class of 1938; and Tufts Medical School, Class of 1942. Dr. Tyson served his internship at Cambridge City Hospital and his residency in anesthesia at Boston City Hospital. In 1941, he married Mary Maddocks. Dr. Tyson began his practice of medicine in Attleboro, Mass., where he served 22 years at Sturdy Memorial Hospital. In 1966, he moved to Bangor and joined the anesthesia staff at St. Joseph Hospital, where he was chief of anesthesia for 15 years, retiring in 1982. Dr. Tyson was a member of Penobscot County Medical Society, Maine Medical Society, New England Society of Anesthesiologists, International Anesthesiologists Research Society, Flying Physicians Association, Civil Air Patrol, Maine Pilots Association, Instrument Rating Experimental Aircraft Association, Penobscot Valley Country Club, Maine Seniors Golf Association and All Souls Congregational Church. Dr. Tyson was predeceased by his wife, Mary (Maddocks) Tyson, in February 2001. Surviving are three children, daughters, Andrea Tyson Forster and Deborah Forster, both of Miami, and a son, Dudley M. Tyson of Kennebunkport; a sister-in-law, Suzanne Mason of Readfield; several nieces and nephews. Private burial will be held in the spring in Augusta.
