NEWBURGH – Dwight M. Smith, 50, husband of Stephanie (McIninch) Smith, passed away peacefully July 19, 2007, at his camp on Schoodic Lake. He was born Sept. 25, 1956, in Bangor, the son of M. Myron and Phyllis (St. Louis) Smith. Dwight was a lifelong resident of Newburgh and a graduate of Hampden Academy, Class of 1975. He was a talented crane operator and carpenter, having worked for M.D. Hardy Construction Co., for many years, before starting his own construction company, D & D Builders with his twin brother, Dwayne. He enjoyed his camp at Schoodic Lake, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and ice fishing. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Stephanie; one son, Dwight C. Smith of Winterport; and daughter, Jessica L. Jursz and her husband, Jason, of Connecticut; father, Myron Smith; twin brother, Dwayne and his wife, Leona; brothers, Dennis and Douglas and his wife, Sherry; sister, Dianne Chadbourne and her husband, Michael, all of Newburgh; and sister, Dawna Robinson of Hampden; mother and father-in-law, Donald and Linda McIninch of Newport; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, Phyllis, November 2006; and by his grandparents. Visiting hours will be held 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. Monday at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hermon Baptist Church with the Rev. Garnett Chute, pastor officiating. Interment will be at Brookside Cemetery, Newburgh.
