BANGOR – E. Dale Ward, 77, died Feb. 10, 2005, at Maine Veterans’ Home. He was born June 21, 1927, in Jackson, the son of Ray A. Ward and Lurline W. (Hillman) Ward. Dale grew up in Brooks, attended Morse Memorial High School and upon graduation enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a Seabee during World War II, stationed in China. He worked in Dexter for a brief time where he met his wife, Beverly, and then attended Industrial Training in Chicago to become an Oil Burner Technician. Dale was well known as an Oil Burner Technician throughout his life and retired after 25 years from Webber Oil Company. He enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball while watching his sons grow up. Dale enjoyed gardening and was proud of his wonderful garden. He enjoyed fishing and had many wonderful times with family and co-workers on fishing trips. More then anything Dale loved his family and his family was the center of his life. He looked forward to holidays for family gatherings and he had a dear love for his cats. His grandchildren admired their grandfather and said that he was the greatest grandpa ever. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Beverly (Doyon) Ward; five children, Michael Ward, and wife, Barbara, of Prentiss, Jeffrey Ward, and wife, Terri, of Brewer, Jennifer Cormier, and husband, Kenneth, of Bangor, Susan Ward, and fianc?, Eddie Roberts, of Carmel, Cathy Waskewicz, of Bangor; a brother, Delmar Ward, of Belfast; a sister, Janice Curtis, and husband, Albert, of Waldo; 11 grandchildren, Adam, Matthew, Marianne, Benjiman, Joshua, Erin, Michael, Emily, Kristen, Hayley, and Grace; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Dale was predeceased by a son-in-law, Wayne Waskewicz; and a brother, Paul Ward. Friends are invited to meet with the family from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb 13, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14, with the Very Rev. Richard McLaughlin, pastor of St. John’s Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will be in the spring at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., after the service.
