HOULTON – E. Pauline Cotton died Oct. 1, 2006, at a Houlton health care facility. She was born Dec. 26, 1916, in New Glascow, Nova Scotia, the daughter of the Rev. Canon Percy G. and Evelyn D. (Smith) Cotton. Pauline was a graduate of Calais Academy High School and Netherwood School for Girls, Rothesay, New Brunswick. She remained at the school for several years as an instructor and tutor. She later trained at the Montreal General Hospital School of Nursing, where she graduated with the highest honors in the province of Quebec, as a registered nurse. She returned to Houlton where she spent many years in private nursing. She later joined the staff of the Houlton Regional Hospital and remained there 45 years until her retirement in 1987. Pauline was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd – Episcopal in Houlton. She was predeceased by her sister, Ruth Moniz; and brother, David H. Cotton. Pauline is survived by her brother, C. Medley Cotton and wife, Joyce, of Hermon; nieces and nephews, Andrea Nicknair and husband, Marc, of Glenburn, Vicki White and husband, Richard, of Bangor, James Cotton and wife, Donna, of Glenburn, Ellen Cotton of North Yarmouth, David Moniz and wife, Lori, of Aurora, Ohio, Marsha Carney and husband, Scott, of Freehold, N.J., and Pamela Cesaro and husband, Nicholas, of Succasunna, N.J.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Dunn Funeral Home, Houlton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd Memorial Fund, in care of Dunn Funeral Home, 11 Park St., Houlton, ME 04730.
