WINTERHAVEN Fla., and PRESQUE ISLE – Earl G. “Lefty” McGlauflin, 77, died of cancer Jan. 2, 2004, at Good Shepard Hospice in Auburndale, Fla. He was born Aug. 5, 1926, in Presque Isle, the son of Harvey F. and Georgia (Wray) McGlauflin. He graduated Presque Isle High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Earl was a 40-year retiree of Sears, Roebuck & Co. He was a member of the Presque Isle Congregational Church, V.F.W. Hayward-Frazier Post No. 2599, and an active member of the Lions Club for many years. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Patricia (Johnston) McGlauflin of Winterhaven, Fla.; two brothers, Dana McGlauflin and Carl McGlauflin and his wife, Kay, all of Presque Isle; nieces and nephews, and many close friends. He was predeceased by a twin brother, Merle McGlauflin; and a sister, Irene Capen. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, at the chapel of Steele’s Family Funeral Home in Winterhaven, Fla. A memorial service will be held at the Presque Isle Congregational Church in the spring, followed by a military committal at Fairmount Cemetery.
