HARRINGTON – Earl H. Dorr, 77, died Friday, April 16, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Sept. 8, 1926, in Beals, the son of Bernard R. and Etta M. (Cousins) Dorr. Earl was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army from 1944-1946. He worked for Maine Central Railroad for more than 30 years, retiring in 1982. Earl was a member of the Anah Temple Shrine in Bangor, Washington Chapter No. 106 of the Royal Arch Masons in Machias, and Tuscan Lodge No. 106 in Addison. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and especially enjoyed spending time at his camp on Schoodic Lake in Columbia. Earl is survived by his wife of 55 years, Maxine F. (Merritt) Dorr of Harrington; two sons, Darryl Dorr and his wife, Amara, of Cherryfield, and Donald Dorr and his wife, Vanessa, of Harrington; five grandchildren, Billy Joe Houck II and his wife, Amy, of Steuben, Tara Small and her husband, Mark, of Cherryfield, Derek Dorr and his friend, Nikki, of South Portland, Tabatha Dorr of Portland, Daniel Dorr of Harrington and his fianc‚e, Bethany, of Whitneyville; two great-grandchildren, Billy Joe Houck III and Brandon Houck of Steuben; a brother, Eddie Dorr and his wife, Elaine, of Blue Hill; two sisters, Arlene Hartford and her husband, Pete, of Gouldsboro, and Vera Pelkey and her husband, Donald Sr., of Orrington; two brothers-in-law, Kenneth and Lawrence Merritt of Harrington; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Melvin Dorr and his wife, Alice. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Milbridge, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor Art Fairbrother officiating.
