CORINTH and ZEPHYR-HILLS, Fla. – Earl Thurston Palmer Jr. died Aug. 18, 2007. He was 86 years this day. Earl, born Aug. 18, 1921, in Guilford, was the son of Bernice “Bun” Chase Palmer and Earl T. Palmer Sr. Earl served in the U.S. Army and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He received his Maine guide license when he was 13, the youngest in the state at that time. He was a master Mason and member of the Composite Lodge No. 168, AF & AM, Lagrange. He worked for B&A Railroad, Pratt & Whitney, Boeing, Lycoming, Fayscott and many other companies as a machinist. He was a pilot, an avid fisherman and storyteller. He will be missed by many special friends. He was predeceased by siblings, Gerald, Geraldine and Philip; and daughter, Priscilla Carle. He is survived by a sister, Margaret Goulette of Guilford; children, Edward and Vicki Palmer of Dover-Foxcroft, Clifford and Sheila Palmer of Burnham, Annie and David Cole of Bangor, Dorothy and Bruce Klouser of Pennsylvania, Susan and Michael Pearl of Atkinson; and numerous grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Corinth United Methodist Church, Route 15, Corinth, with the Rev. Cynthia Nickerson, pastor, presiding. Private interment will be at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Composite Lodge No. 168, AF & AM, P.O. Box 194, West Enfield, ME 04493.
