BREWER and PRESQUE ISLE – Helen M. Fletcher, 96, died Aug. 17, 2007, at a local health care facility. She as born April 1, 1911, in Brewer the daughter of Frank and Millie (Mathews) McFarland. Helen graduated from Brewer High School and married Elden Fletcher in 1929. She was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed dancing, Saturday Nighters, bridge and any card games, visiting Jordan Pond and later in life, playing Parcheesi and having coffee and blueberry muffins at Tim Horten’s. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three sisters, Vina Connick, Marjorie Gatcomb and Evelyn Smith; and one brother, Frank McFarland Jr. Helen is survived by her son and his wife, Jerry and Lorraine Fletcher of Hadley, N.Y.; and daughter and her husband, Anne and Dick Scribner of Presque Isle; five grandchildren, Julie Scribner, Kathy Bosse, Cindy Rattray, Trish Gori and Debbie Anderson; and six great-grandchildren, Chris, Derek, Kate, Lennie, Johnathan and Lauren. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. Larry Palmer officiating. Relatives and friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to either the Ronald McDonald House, Inc., 654 State St., Bangor, ME 04401 or to the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the staff of Leisure Gardens and Presque Isle Nursing Center for their care and concern, especially Tracy and Dale Michaud, and Marla and Anita for keeping her entertained.
