LITTLE DEER ISLE – Edgar B. Parker, 83, husband of the late Carlotta B. (Ea-ton) Parker, died Feb. 13, 2008, at a Blue Hill hospital. He was born Feb. 29, 1924, in Little Deer Isle, the son of Ernest and Julia (Eaton) Parker. Edgar was a U.S. Army veteran, achieving the rank of private first class, while serving during World War II in Battery B, 734th Field Artillery Battalion, where he earned four major Battle Stars and served in six different countries. After leaving the military, he worked for many years in the Blue Hill and Cape Rosier Mines. In his later years, he worked as a fisherman. He was a member of Rodney Stinson American Legion Post No. 102, Deer Isle/Stonington. Edgar was especially proud of his band, the Three Corners Band, south of the COC. He is survived by one son, Dana Parker and his wife, Linda, of Little Deer Isle; two daughters, Pamela Gabriele and her husband, Dominic, of Connecticut and Sheila Joyce and her husband, David, of Deer Isle; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one sister, Linnie Winslow of Rockland; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and his parents, he was predeceased by two sons, David and Darin; three brothers and four sisters. A graveside service with military honors will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at Blastow’s Cove Cemetery, Little Deer Isle, with Pastor Ralph Greene officiating.
