PLEASANT POINT – Edith Faye Pond, 68, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006, surrounded by her loving family and friends, at her home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Edith was born Aug. 16, 1938, in Calais, daughter of the late Phillip Nicholas and Elizabeth Lewey, and her stepfather, Jerome Neptune. She was a member of St. Ann’s Church, Pleasant Point, and the Pleasant Point Elderly Group. Edith enjoyed bingo, picking and braiding sweetgrass, wreath making, sweets, cooking, sewing and spending time with her family. She was predeceased by two children, Robert and Elizabeth Pond; two sisters, Theresa Gardner and Angela Barnes; and two brothers, John and Louis Neptune. Surviving are five children, Ronald Pond and his companion, Cherie Nicholas, Cindy Pond, Debora Nicholas and husband, Martin, James Pond, all of Pleasant Point and Brenda Pond and companion, Carl Nicholas, of Princeton; a sister, Clara Keezer of Pleasant Point; two brothers, Peter Neptune of Pleasant Point and Larry Sockabasin of Indian Township; seven grandchildren, Jaimie, Ellen, Renee and Nicole Nicholas, and A.J., Justin and Jonathan Harnois; three great-grandchildren, Aidan Nicholas, Justin Harnois Jr. and Lyndon Harnois; her ex-husband, Robert Pond; a special friend, Frank Maker of Eastport; many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives. Friends may call 11 a.m. Saturday until 9 a.m. Monday at 72 Passamaquoddy Road, Pleasant Point. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at St. Ann’s Church, Pleasant Point, by Father Gene Gaffey. Burial will be after the service at the Tribal Cemetery.
