WASHBURN – Edna R. Norton 87, wife of the late Guy L. Norton, died May 9, 2006, at a Presque Isle hospital. She was born Oct. 8, 1918, in Perham, the daughter of Fred and Nora (Tupper) Moody. While in the South Portland area she attended the First Congregational Church, then in Washburn, the Lidstone Memorial United Methodist Church. Edna owned and operated M’Ladys Beauty Salon in Portland for many years. Her shop was later moved into her home where she served her customers for many more years. She was a member of the South Portland Garden Club and also enjoyed arts and crafts, reading, sewing and cooking. Surviving her is a son, Jeffrey E. Norton of Wade; a daughter and her husband, June and Franklin Ward of Cape Elizabeth; a sister and her husband, Virginia and Scott Briggs of Windham; five grandchildren, Michael Ward, Erin Ward, Brian Ward, Kevin Ward and Stephen Ward; seven great-grandchildren, Jessica, Dylan and Evan Ward, Alden Ward and Elliot Rodriguez, Aiden and Asher Ward. Predeceasing her were two brothers, Leroy and Warren Moody. There will be no calling hours. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, May 19, at the Lidstone Memorial United Methodist Church in Washburn with the Rev. Dorothy Matson officiating. Interment will be in the Maine Veterans cemetery in Caribou. Gifts in her memory may be sent to the memorial fund at the Maine Veterans Home in Caribou, 163 Van Buren Rd., Caribou, ME 04736. Arrangements are in the care of the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home in Presque Isle.
