BREWER – Edson Murray Arnold, 89, died June 18, 2004, at a Brewer healthcare facility. He was born Nov. 20, 1914, in Brewer, the son of Walter F. and Jennie Gertrude (Murray) Arnold. Edson was more than anything, a loving husband and father, who so loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling and drove with his wife to all 49 states in the continental United States of America, and to every province in Canada. He also enjoyed music. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Arleen (Wentworth) Arnold; a son, Edson “Eddie” Arnold and wife, Kathy, of Holden; two daughters, Margaret “Peggy” Holyoke and husband, Ralph, of Brewer, Joyce A. Tardiff and special friend, Sid Winchester, of Brewer; two sisters, Ruth Bickford of Brewer, Phyllis Adams of Eddington; special grandchildren, Ralph, Rae Anne, Tallie, Scott, Tom and Lori; and 14 very special great-grandchildren. Edson was predeceased by three brothers, Everett, Lawrence and Roy; and by a special grandson, Tim Tardiff, in 1980. The family would like to give a special thanks to Brewer Rehabilitation and Living Center, and especially to Rose, for the wonderful care, love and compassion. Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 21, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer. Funeral service and interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer, will be private for the family. Gifts in his memory may be made to the New Hope Hospice, P.O. Box 757, Holden, ME 04429-0757.
