GREAT POND – Edward Byron Honey, 98, died Feb. 11, 2004, at a Bangor healthcare facility. He was born Jan. 21, 1906, in Bangor, the son of Harry E. and Anne (Murphy) Honey. Edward served in the past as a selectman for Great Pond. He built more than 20 homes in the Bangor area and the Roscoe Flagg building in Veazie. For many years he was a registered Maine guide. Edward loved to dance, had been a member of the Seniors Bowling Club of Bangor, the Eagles Club of Brewer and a 50-year member of the Lygonia Masonic Lodge. He is survived by a son, David E. Honey Sr. and wife, Carolyn, of Great Pond; a daughter, Anne M. Winchester of Jykel Island, Ga.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Gertrude; four brothers, Earl, Harry Jr., Frank and George; four sisters, Marion, Margaret, Mildred and Mary. Edward’s family wishes to express their gratitude to Mike and Tracy Tatarcyk, owners of the J.L.H. Assisted Living Center for the excellent care and love that Edward received. Friends are invited to call from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, where Masonic services will follow at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, at the Amherst-Aurora Congregational Church with the Rev. Lisa Jones presiding. Interment will be at Great Pond Cemetery, Great Pond.
