HOLDEN – Edward Bernard Hartery, 69, passed away Feb. 1, 2006, at his home. He was born Sept. 2, 1936, in Brewer, the son of Bernard and Ida (Giles) Hartery. Edward was a U.S. Army Reserve veteran. He was employed by Maine Central Railroad for 33 years and enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, corresponding with family and friends, and spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, Priscilla of Holden; he is survived by two sons, Daniel Hartery and his wife, Julie, of Patuxent River, Md., Brian Hartery and his wife, Kara, of Clifton; one daughter, Valerie Hartery and her fiance, Chris Larson, of Bangor; four grandchildren, Carley Hartery, Tanis Hartery, Victoria Hartery, and Mackenzie Hartery. He is also survived by his brother, Milton Hartery and his wife, Patricia, of Bangor; three brothers-in-law, John Carter and his wife, Lu, Bruce Carter, Allen Carter and his wife, Norma; along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father in 1969, his son, Aaron Hartery; and his mother in 1995. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 754 Ohio St., Bangor, with the Rev. Roland Nadeau, celebrant.
