PARKMAN – Edward F. Higgins Jr., 61, died Dec. 17, 2006, at the Veterans’ Administration Medical Center, Togus. He was born Oct. 7, 1945, in Barnstable, Mass., son of Edward and Helen (Crowell) Higgins Sr. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Connor Trafton American Legion Post 119, Guilford. Ed was past commander of the 5th District of the American Legion, and grand conducteur of the Grand Voiture of Maine and chef de gare of the Voiture 454 Forty and Eight. Ed worked for the Maine State Department of Transportation for 28 years, and was serving as chief steward at the time of his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Donna (Ellis) Higgins of Parkman; two sons, Joshua Higgins of Parkman and Chris of Florida; four daughters, Sue Sharp of North Caroline, Erin Sears of Cambridge, Carla Higgins of Waterville and Lori Goodall of Florida; two sisters, Marion and her husband, Roger Pyy, of Massachusetts, and Helen and her husband, Jerry Parsons, of Alaska; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, at Crosby & Neal, 21 Oak St., Guilford. Graveside services with military honors will be held in the spring at the Pingree Center Cemetery, Parkman.
