BANGOR – Edward J. DeRoche, 84, died March 22, 2005, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Bangor. He was born Sept. 10, 1920, in South Brewer, the son of Cyrille and Philomene (Lozier) DeRoche. Edward attended St. John’s school and John Bapst High School in Bangor. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Edward was employed by Eastern Fine Paper Co., and the City of Bangor. He is survived by a daughter, Mary Devoe-Pratt and her husband, Phillip, of Brewer; son, E. Joseph DeRoche Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Old Town; grandchildren, Jamie Malley and her husband, Eric, of Lewiston, Mallory DeRoche of Bangor; stepgrandchildren, Jonathan Thomas of Old Town, Brandon Thomas and his wife, Amanda, of Levant; great-stepgrandchild, Kamrin Thomas of Levant; one brother, Charles DeRoche of Brewer; two sisters, Anna Butera of Brewer, and Mary Arismeek of Eddington; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth (Howard) DeRoche on May 12, 1982; and four brothers, Sandy, George, Stanley and Donald DeRoche. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, March 24, with the Rev. Richard McLaughlin, pastor of St. John’s Catholic Church, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, after the service. Spring interment will be at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor.
