LEVANT – The love of my life, my dream husband for more than 51 years, my companion, my friend, the gentle father of our six loving children, has left us to be at peace June 14, 2008. Edward Koncinsky, husband of Lucille Racine Koncinsky, was born of humble beginnings April 29, 1921, on a dairy farm in Griswold, Conn., the son of Stanley and Mary Koncinsky. He loved his vegetable and flower gardens, which he always took care of himself because it had to be done the right way! Ed also loved other outdoor activities, including fishing, softball and golf. During World War II, Ed proudly served in the Navy Seabees. He spent his enlistment in the South Pacific for two and one-half years, and at that time was the youngest Seabee ever to enlist. In 1978 Ed and his family moved from Connecticut to Kenduskeag, where Ed’s dream of owning a golf course came true, with the purchase of Kenduskeag Valley Golf Course. He was an extremely hard-working man and he had all the chance in the world to prove it on the golf course. He never complained about any hardship that he ever had to handle. He was brave beyond words and a person of the strongest character. Ed was predeceased by his mother and father; his only sibling, his sister, Edith Baron; a very special stepson, William “Buzzy” Szczygiel; and his beloved helper and granddaughter, Brianna Rachel Koncinsky. Ed is survived by his wife, Lucille; two daughters, Karen Girvan and her husband, Robert Girvan II, and their two children, Robert Girvan III and Bailey Girvan; Lauren Koncinsky and her husband, Luke Krebs, and their children, Luke and Nicholas; four sons, Barry Koncinsky and his wife, Sue, and daughters, Megan and Jordan; Thomas Koncinsky and his wife, Diane, a son, Thomas Koncinsky Jr. and stepson, Ray Winchester; David Koncinsky and his wife, Stephanie, and their children, Andrew Koncinsky, Krysta Koncinsky, Alec Koncinsky and stepson, Gage Reynolds; and Brian Koncinsky and his wife, Donna, and daughters, Tara and Jenna McCarthy. To honor Ed’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. If people wish, contributions in Ed’s memory may be made to the Brianna Rachel Koncinsky Fund For Kids, care of Eastern Maine Medical Center Credit Union, 849 Stillwater Ave., Bangor, ME 04401. We’ll miss him and his love.
