BAILEYVILLE and ST. ANDREWS, New Brunswick – Edward L. Casey, 76, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006, at a St. Stephen, New Brunswick hospital. Edward was born Dec. 29, 1929, in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, son of the late Charles and Florence (Kelly) Casey. He served in the Army National Guard and then joined the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Korean War. Edward was employed as a pipe fitter for various factories. He was a member of the Church of St. Andrews; a lifetime member of the William T. Wren Post No. 23 American Legion, Baileyville; Local 321, Bangor; Passamaquoddy Memorial VFW Post No. 11299 and served as a state representative in the 104th legislature from 1969 to 1970. Edward was also a member of St. Marks Lodge No. 52 AF & AM, St. Andrews; Annah Temple, Bangor; and Luxor Temple, St. John, where he enjoyed being an active member in the Masons and Shriners. Surviving are his loving wife, Virginia (Hanson) Casey; two children, Andrea Payson and husband, Donald, of Rockland and Charles E. Casey and wife, Heather, of St. John, New Brunswick; two brothers, Charles W. Casey Jr. of Calais and Gerald Casey of Abbington, Mass.; and three grandchildren, Holly and Donny Payson and Dallas Casey. Friends may call 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. James the Greater R.C.
