CASTLE HILL – Edward N. Wood, 87, died Friday evening, March 11, 2005, at the Maine Veterans Home in Caribou. He was born Nov. 12, 1917, at Castle Hill, the son of Norris and Alice (Carver) Wood. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Edward owned and operated his potato farm in Castle Hill for many years. He was a member of the Washburn Masonic Lodge No. 193, and a member of the VFW and the American Legion in Presque Isle. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis “Nadine” of Castle Hill; two sons, Edward Wood Jr. of Augusta, and Terry Wood of Castle Hill; a sister, Marion Manter and her husband, Jerry, of Presque Isle; three grandchildren, Jamie McCrum and Matthew Wood, both of Florida, and Laura Gay of Augusta. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou. Arrangements in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home.
