TRENTON – Edward W. Bucklin, 78, died Nov. 17, 2004, at an Ellsworth healthcare facility. He was born July 18, 1926, in Northeast Harbor the son of Horace and Valerie (Smith) Bucklin. Edward was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He worked as a carpenter with his father and for C.E. Bucklin & Sons, Northeast Harbor for many years. He married Dorothy (Bunker) Feb. 21, 1970. They had a full and happy life and enjoyed vacations up and down the east coast, from Maine to Florida. They also traveled to Canada, The Virgin Islands and Bermuda. Edward and Dorothy loved to square dance. He also enjoyed gardening and in his later years working around the house. Edward was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 208, of Northeast Harbor and the Anah Temple Shrine and the Hancock and Washington County Shrine Clubs. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Dorothy; son, Charles Bucklin and wife, Martha, of Northeast Harbor; three daughters, Suzanne Catanese and husband, Anthony, of Groton, Mass., Belinda Fletcher and husband, Dexter, of North Billerica, Mass., and Martha Fleck and husband, Bill, of Suwanee, Ga.; a brother, Fred Bucklin, of Northeast Harbor; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew, an aunt, Marjorie Bucklin, of Northeast Harbor; and a great-aunt, Charlotte Peabody, of Gorham; two stepdaughters, Constance Severence and husband, Woodrow, of Corrina and Susan Waite and partner, Ronald Doane, of Trenton; two stepsons, Jan Michael Ryan, of Franklin and Jeffrey Ryan and wife, Jamie, of Orient. Calling hours will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert, where Masonic Services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, with the Rev. David J. Lucey presiding. Interment will be at Forest Hills Cemetery, Northeast Harbor.
