ROCKPORT, Mass. – Eleanor (Currie) Parsons, 92, wife of the late Albert Story Parsons Jr., died Wednesday, May 28, 2008, in Gloucester, Mass. She was born June 22, 1915, in Drew, the daughter of the late Clair and Maude (Bishop) Currie of Hartland. Mrs. Parsons graduated from Farmington State Normal School, and attended the University of Maine and was a teacher in Maine and Rockport, Mass. She and her late husband owned and operated the Story Guest House for tourists. After retiring from teaching, she served on the Rockport (Mass.) school board and pursued her interest in writing. She wrote and published 10 books of Cape Ann history, including “Thachers Island of the Twin Lights,” “Hannah and the Hatchet Gang,” “A Town Called Drew,” “Beyond, Bearskin Neck Rockport” and “Harbormasters Dedicated and Seaworthy.” She was a member of the National League of American Pen Women, Sandy Bay Historical Society and Thacher Island Association. She is survived by a daughter, Rosemary Lesch and her husband, Roger Lesch, of Rockport, Mass.; one grandson, Story Raymond Reed of Rockport, Mass.; Sharon Chace, who Mr. and Mrs. Parsons raised from the age of 4 and her husband, Ernest Chace, of Rockport, Mass., and their daughter, Amy Chace, of New York City; a sister, Charlotte Stafford of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one niece, four nephews and several cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, Darrel Bishop Currie and his wife, Charlotte; and a brother-in-law, Lawrence Stafford. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 2, at Burgess and Mackey Funeral Home, 201 Main St., Rockport, Mass. Relatives and friends are cordially invited. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Rockport Harbor Department, 34 Broadway, Rockport, MA 01966 or Rockport Ambulance, 37 Broadway, Rockport, MA 01966.
