NEWPORT and STETSON Eleanor M. Brown, 87, died April 26, 2007, at a Bangor health care facility after a long illness. She was born Jan 10, 1920, in Moncton, New Brunswick, the daughter of William A. and Elizabeth J. (Leaman) Killam. She was the wife of Allen C. Brown Sr. who died in 1955. She was a former member of the South Levant Baptist Church, the Pleasant Lake Grange, the Pamona Grange, and the State Grange. She was active for many years in the Grange and 4-H work. Eleanor worked as a waitress at the Log Cabin Diner, Newport, for 10 years and also at W. T. Grant Co., Bangor. She worked as food service supervisor at Bangor City Hospital for several years until her retirement in 1983. Eleanor was a member of the High Street Congregational Church, Newport. She was an active member of the Newport Community Food Bank, Newport, for several years, where she enjoyed her Saturday mornings, meeting the clients. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband; her son, Clayton Brown; three brothers, two sisters, and a granddaughter. She is survived by two daughters, Jessie Walls and her husband, Edward, of Bangor, and Jennette Saulnier of Notre Dame, New Brunswick; one son and his wife, Allen and Elaine Brown Jr. of Stetson; her daughter-in-law, Gloria Brown of Stetson; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call 1-2 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High St., Newport, where a service of remembrance will be held 2 p.m. after the visitation with Pastor Al Worden officiating.
