THORNDIKE and LYNCH-BURG, Va. – Elinor Lucille Howes died Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2007. She was born July 24, 1923. Elinor was widely known for her sale of homemade quilts. She had customers from literally all throughout the world. She had been a church organist for several years and shared many children’s flannel graph stories. She welcomed family and friends to a home-cooked meal, even on the spur of a moment. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl Harold Howes. She is survived by four brothers and three sisters. Among her other survivors are five children, Patricia Trundy and her husband, Bruce, of Hampden, Brenda Fanjoy and her husband, Lyman, of Pittsfield, David Howes and his wife, Peggy, of Whitefield, N.H., Janice Teague and her husband, Garry, of Lynchburg, Va., and Joyce Straub and her husband, Harry, of Hudson. She was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In the spring Elinor’s family will have a celebration of her life.
