MILBRIDGE – Elizabeth A. Beal, 88, passed away Feb. 20, 2006, at her home surrounded by family after an extended illness. She was born April 27, 1917, in Milbridge, the daughter of the late Fred G. and Elizabeth (Foster) Strout. She graduated from Milbridge High School in 1934. Elizabeth married J. Franklin Beal in May of 1936 and enjoyed a lobster-fishing career with her husband for nearly 60 years. She was an active member of the Eastern Star for many years as well as the Milbridge Historical Society. She also served as an organist for the Methodist Church for many years. She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Bailey and her husband, Donald, of Greenville; son, James Beal and his wife, Yasmin, of Milbridge; three grandchildren, Kim (Bailey) Brooker, Jaime Beal and Keegan Beal and his wife, Erinn; six great-children, Kristopher and Matthew Brooker, Elizabeth Newman, Luke Dubois, Alexa and Meg Beal; great-great-granddaughter, Samantha Brooker; nieces, Susan Parker, Connie Strout, Gwen Grant, Beverly Beal, Greta Choquet, Saundra Kennedy, Sharon St. Claire, Jane Cronin and Barbie Arbour; and two nephews, Raymond Beal and Gene Carter. She was predeceased by her husband, J. Franklin Beal in 2004; brothers, Reginald, Arnold, Lawrence and F.G. Strout; and granddaughter, Karen Dubois. Visiting hours will take place from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Main Street, Milbridge. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, at the Milbridge Methodist Church officiated by Pastor Steve Smith. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
