ELIZABETH ALICE ‘BUDDY’ PARLIN EASTON – Elizabeth Alice Parlin, known to many as Buddy, died June 8, 2007. She was born Nov. 1, 1915, in Presque Isle, the daughter of James St. Thomas and Mabel (Farley) St. Thomas. Elizabeth was a 1933 graduate of Presque Isle High School. Elizabeth married Earl Maxwell Parlin, April 27, 1935. Earl passed away Oct. 8, 1969. Elizabeth was an active member of the community for many years, as well as the proprietor of the Easton General Store, after her retirement from Sears and Roebuck in 1963. Elizabeth was honored with the Degree of Flora of the State Grange in 1951. She was noble grand of the Rebekah Lodge Zephyr No. 44, Easton, for two years. She was elected district deputy president of four lodges in 1963, for a one-year term. Elizabeth was an avid doll collector, sewing and dressing many of her own dolls. She was a woman of many talents. She was an excellent seamstress, wonderful cook, she loved to knit, crochet, can and pickle vegetables, as well as grow beautiful plants; she also loved to decorate her home. Elizabeth loved to read a vast variety of books, until the loss of her eyesight in her later years. Elizabeth had a wonderful sense of humor. We will miss her quick wit and wonderful laughter. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three sisters and one brother, Pearl Kenneson, Louise Tagan, Doris Heckman and James St. Thomas. She is survived by a daughter, Rhoda M. Buckel of Accident, Md.; and a son, Richard E. Parlin of Easton; one sister, Connie Monteith; and one brother, Arthur St. Thomas. She also raised and was very much loved by two of her granddaughters, Carrie E. Hull and husband, Rickie, of Easton and Rhoda M. Michaud of Okahumpa, Fla. Elizabeth had five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. At her request, there will be a private family viewing and no services.
