TUCSON, Ariz. – Elizabeth Ann Lewis Foster died Sept. 7, 2004, after a long illness in Tucson, Ariz. She was born July 4, 1946, in Waterville, to Edward Albert Lewis and Norah Douglass Putnam. Elizabeth “Liz” Foster attended Waterville High School and earned an MS in Community Health Nursing from Boston University. Her 38-year career in public heath and community health nursing spanned progressively responsible positions in direct care, teaching, administration, clinical supervision, consultation, quality assurance, hospice programs and professional publication. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau and the National League for Nursing. Known for her tireless advocacy in behalf of quality community, home and family health care for all individuals, she served as a volunteer in Appalachia and Haiti. Elizabeth was a Big Sister, antique jewelry collector, white water canoeist, treasure hunter, Reiki Teaching Master, godmother and desert naturalist. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Robert Foster, and brothers George Lewis of Orland, and John Lewis of Rome, Maine; as well as a sister-in-law, Wanda Lewis of Rome, Maine.
