BREWER – Elizabeth (Ifill) West, 59, wife of the late James Emery West, died Feb. 6, 2005, at a Bangor healthcare center. She was born Jan. 6, 1946, in Waterville, the daughter of James Harrison and Ella Mae (Rand) Ifill. Betty was a graduate of Brewer High School and the University of Maine, Class of 1968. She taught school at Winslow High School and the Center Drive School in Orrington. Betty was a member and past matron of Tuscan Chapter No. 148 O.E.S. of Bangor. She was a past district Deputy District 6 International Order of the Rainbow for Girls and was awarded the Grand Cross of Color. Betty had been a volunteer with Meals for Me for 16 years. She was the God-Parent to Heidi (Morrow) Young and Adam Morrow. Also surviving are two half sisters, Marie Jordan of Cape Elizabeth, Arlene Vanzandt of Wallace, Idaho and several nieces and nephews. It would be Betty’s wish that there be an appreciation expressed for the excellent care and friendship given by Dr. Atkins and the staff of Laurel Court. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, 2005, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, with the Rev. Elizabeth Vernon, pastor of the North Brewer-Eddington United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home, noon Friday until time of service. Those who attend are invited for conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith family rooms following the service Friday. Spring interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer.
