LUBEC – Elizabeth Catherine Mulholland, 86, died Jan. 30, 2004, at a Machias healthcare facility. Miss Mulholland was born July 15, 1917, in Lubec, the daughter of Charles and Mary (McCurdy) Mulholland. A graduate of Lubec High School, she received a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from the University of Maine at Orono. She was a teacher at Dennysville High School and Orleans High School in Orleans, Mass. Until her retirement, she was the English teacher at Lubec High School, where she also served as guidance counselor interim principal. Miss Mulholland was a member of the Maine Teachers Association and the Maine Retired Teachers Association, Gamma Chapter of the Alpha Omicron Pi and the Lambda Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Lubec Historical Society, Lubec Women’s Club and the Catholic Women’s Council. She was a communicant of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church of Lubec. Miss Mulholland was predeceased by three brothers, Harold C., John A. and Julian Mulholland; a niece, Pam Mulholland; and a great-nephew, Todd Mulholland. Surviving are two nephews, Harold Mulholland and his wife, Margot, of Baileyville, and Bruce Mulholland and his wife, Paulette, of Cathance Lake; a niece, Betty-Jo Brine and her husband, Ed, of Campobello Island, New Brunswick; six great-nieces and four great-nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Lubec, with the Rev. Mark Nolette celebrant. Burial will be in the Corey Cemetery, Lubec.
