BANGOR – Elizabeth Ida Colburn, 81, loving wife, mother and “Mammy”, died May 4, 2005, at a local healthcare center. She was born June 10, 1923, in Hampden, the daughter of Stuart Gardiner and Irma Elizabeth (Henry) Leeman. Elizabeth was a graduate of Bangor High School and a member of the National Honor Society. She was employed for 44 years in the business office at Freeses’ Department Store and was a former member of the Universalist Church of Bangor and the Guild of the church, now the Universalist Unitarian Society of Bangor. Surviving are her husband, Charles E. Colburn of Bangor; one daughter, Jane E. Helsley and her husband, Adam, of Bangor; three grandchildren, Bethanie, Kristin and Taylor; two sisters, Bertha Dauphinee of Corinth and Josephine Pomroy of Bangor; one brother, Roger Leeman of Bangor; nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 9, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service Monday.
