WHITEFIELD – Elizabeth K. Lowden, 70, of North Hunts Meadow Rd., died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, at her home following a long illness. She was born in Richmond, Sept. 29, 1933, a daughter of the late Lloyd B. and Faith S. (Holt) Kelley. Mrs. Lowden was a graduate of Bangor High School, Class of 1950, as well as the New England School of Theology in Brookline, Mass. in 1954 and Massachusetts Memorial Hospital Nursing School in 1957. She married Linwood H. Lowden, Oct. 12, 1957 and moved to Kilmichael, Miss. They then moved to Swans Island in 1962 and in 1966 they moved to their present home in Whitefield. Mrs. Lowden had been employed as a night nurse at Kilmichael Hospital for several years, was the “Island Nurse” at Swans Island and retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital at Togus after 28 years of employment. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Linwood H. Lowden of Whitefield; a son, Aaron S. Lowden of Warren; three daughters, Kathryn Kelly of Waterville, Susannah R. Lowden of Westport Island and Sarah E. Lowden of Whitefield; a brother, Walter J. Kelley of Brewer; two sisters, Charlotte K. Burrill of Sarasota, Fla. and Hazel M. Hart of Bangor; five grandchildren, Arnold Bickford, III, Faythe Bickford, Joan Kelly, Stephanie Lowden and Krista Lowden; six nieces and nephews and several cousins. Relatives and friends may visit from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Belgrade.
