MILFORD and EASTON, Conn. – Elizabeth Lillian Svanda, 93, died Nov. 7, 2004, at her residence in Milford. She was born Aug. 21, 1911, in Old Forge, Pa., the daughter of Peter and Mary Uhrin. Elizabeth was a long time resident of Easton, Conn., and active in the Easton Women’s Auxiliary Fire Department. She moved to Milford in 1990 to be closer to her grandchildren. She attended Amazing Grace Fellowship in Brewer where she will be missed by her church family, especially Cory, who held a special place in her heart. Most of her life she was a cook and caregiver for many families with her most memorable work experience was for Helen Keller, and Edna Ferber. She was an avid reader and enjoyed entertaining and cooking, and more then anything enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by a son, John Svanda, and wife, Virginia, of Newport, N.H.; two granddaughters, Margo Miller, and husband, Craig, of Bangor, Kim Parker, and husband, Doug, of Saco; three great-grandchildren, Danielle Miller, Kelly Miller, Sarah Parker; a nephew; and many nieces. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Svanda in 1989; two brothers, and six sisters. A gathering of remembrance will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov 11, at the Spadaccino Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT, where a memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Nov 12. Interment will be at Aspetuck Cemetery, Easton, Conn. Local arrangements by Brookings-Smith, Old Town Chapel.
