BAR HARBOR – Elizabeth “Mil” Mildred (Muise) Mitchell, 58, died unexpectedly, Feb. 17, 2007, at an Ellsworth hospital. She was born Feb. 24, 1949, in East Quinan, Nova Scotia, Canada, the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Julia (Muise) Gordon. Her faith in God and children were the highlight of her life. She was a member of the First Light Assembly of God, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the woman’s ministry. She also assisted with fundraising at the Town Hill Fire House. Elizabeth enjoyed sewing and assisting others, as a C.N.A. for many years and was an activities coordinator at M.D.I. Hospital, Sonogee Estates and Courtland Living Center. She enjoyed crafts, reading, cooking and loved children. Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Stephen David Mitchell; a son, Clifford T. Berrouard of Bucksport; one daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Johan Amneus of Big Pine Key, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Allissa Mitchell Jr. of Key West, Fla.; and a son, Christopher Mitchell of Bar Harbor; two brothers, Paul Gordon of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and James Gordon of Halifax, Nova Scotia; four sisters, Elaine O’Connell of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Marie Boudreau of Lower Wedgeport, Nova Scotia, Denise Sherman of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and Shirley Gordon-Collie of Ottowa, Ontario; four grandchildren, John Weaver, Faith Mitchell, Jared Mitchell and Sebastian Amneus. Mil has a very large and extended family. She was predeceased by her daughter, Ruth Lynn Mitchell. Friends are invited to visit with the family, 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at Jordan-Fernald, 48 Eden St., Bar Harbor. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at St. Saviour’s Episcopal Church with Pastors Lee and Maria Hemminger officiating. Spring interment will be at Ledgelawn Cemetery, Bar Harbor. The family suggests that contributions in Elizabeth’s memory may be made to the Benovelence Fund at the First Light Assembly of God, 11 Hemminger Place, Bar Harbor, ME 04609.
