BEALS ISLAND – Ella Ann Alley, 79, died peacefully Sept. 16, 2006, with her loving husband of 62 years, Romie Alley, at her side, at home. She was born March 13, 1927, in Beals Island, the daughter of the late Ellery Merchant Sr. and Jesse Amanda (Beal) Merchant. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grand-mother. She was known for her love for her family, her Lord, her garden, walking, cooking and meeting new people. She had a sweet, kind, gracious and humble demeanor where all were welcomed in her home and in her heart. She is survived by daughter, Janet Cirone of South Addison; son, Dennis Alley and wife, Sharon, of Beals; son, Wayne Alley and wife, Addie, of Jonesboro; daughter, Marilyn O’Bryan and husband, Obie, of Addison; daughter, Mary Ortega and husband, Barney, of Columbia Falls; sisters, Evelyn Alley, Susie Alley and Elizabeth Garnett, all of Beals; brothers, Ellery Merchant Jr. and Quentin Merchant, also of Beals; grandchildren, Crystal, Oscar, Ernest Jr., Lisa, Timothy, Cheryl, Frank, Hope, Ronnie, Faith, Kendall, Michelle, Todd, Jason, Megan, Guy, Heather and Marilyn; great-grand-children, Amanda, Katie, Ashley, Ben, Morgan, Trussell, Denny, Ben, Kristopher, Kasey, Jacob, Kiley, Stephen and Cody; special niece, Cathy and friend, Rose; and special friend, Arden Alley. She was predeceased by sister, Josephine Merchant; brother, Reginald Merchant; son-in-law, Ernest Cirone Sr.; grandson, Patrick Cirone; and special niece, Barbara Thibideau. Visitation for family and friends will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Milbridge. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at the funeral home with the Rev. George Woodward officiating, burial will be held after the service at Great Wass Cemetery, Beals.
