BANGOR – Ella “Ellie” J. (Withee) Greenfield, 71, wife of the late Herbert M. Greenfield, died Sept. 9, 2005, at a Bangor hospital, surrounded by her family. Ella was born to Roland and Alma (Libby) Withee Nov. 30, 1933. She graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1952. She was a nurses’ aid and operating room technician for several years working in nursing homes and hospitals in Bangor, Saco, Biddeford, and Portland. She also did volunteer work for the foster grandparent program and St. Joseph Hospital, Bangor. Surviving are three sons and four daughters-in-law, Roland F. Mayhew and his wife, Phyllis Havens, of Hampden, Charles A. Mayhew, Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Bangor, Jeffery L. Mayhew and his wife, Jill, of Dedham, and Debbie Mayhew of Kenduskeag; stepson, David Greenfield and his wife, Nancy, of Massachusetts, and their sons, Andrei and Ivan and stepson, Jay Greenfield of Florida; seven grandchildren, Mandy Jo Buzzell and her husband, Brian, Mark C. Mayhew II; C. Corey Mayhew, Jeffrey Mayhew, Tiffany Mayhew, Sky Mayhew and Elizabeth Mayhew; three great-grandchildren, Brandon, Kyle and Andrew Buzzell; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Mark C. Mayhew; her parents, three brothers, and two sisters, George A. Withee, Irene Keaton, Earl R. Withee, Carl F. Withee; and Jane Hardy. She was also predeceased by her husbands, Charles A. Mayhew, Donald D. Brehm, Forrest F. Milheron Sr., and Herbert M. Greenfield. Memorial services will be held 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith, Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, following the service.
