BANGOR – Ellen May (Geaghan) Richardson, 94, formerly of Belgrade and Skowhegan, died Monday, April 5, 2004, at Stillwater Healthcare, following a long illness. She was born May 1, 1909, in Bangor, the daughter of Francis L and Charline (Gilman) Geaghan. Ellen attended St. Johns School and graduated from Bangor High School. She was a nurse in the Bangor and Fairfield areas. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, reading, gardening and walking. She was a former member of St. Theresa’s Church in Oakland and was active at St. Johns Church in Bangor. She has been a resident of Phillip Strickland House in Bangor for several years. Ellen was predeceased by her husband, Willis Richardson; six brothers, John, James, Robert, Thomas, Phillip and Melville Geaghan; and three sisters, Mary Jane (Geaghan) Clapp, Callista O’Brian and Louise (Geaghan) Alessi. Surviving are two sisters, Frances McCluskey of Houlton, and Theresa Lepage of Epping, N.H.; a brother, Bernard Geaghan of Wilmington, Del.; sisters-in-law, Mrs. James (Lucille) Geaghan, Mrs. Thomas (Patricia) Geaghan, Mrs. Melville (Sheila) Geaghan, Mrs. John (Arline) Geaghan and Mrs. Robert (Gertrude) Geaghan; several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to visit from 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, at Wheeler Funeral Home, Church Street, Oakland, where a funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Spring burial will be in Belgrade’s Pine Grove Cemetery.
