MACHIASPORT – Ellery F. Tuck Jr., 85, passed away June 25, 2006, at Marshall Health Care Facility in Machias after an extended illness. He was born Sept. 17, 1920, in San Francisco, the son of the late Ellery F. Tuck Sr. and Mabel (Wilkinson) Tuck. He served in the U.S. Navy as a pilot with the rank of lieutenant commander. Ellery served during World War II and Korea. After World War II, Ellery completed his education at Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y. obtaining his masters. He then toured with Leonard Bernstein and the New York Phil Harmonic. He taught violin and music at the University of Hawaii. After his service in Korea, he lived in California where he met his wife, Roberta. Ellery gave concerts in the Los Angeles area while also teaching young artists and sending them off to Eastman, Julliard, and the Manhattan School of Music. In 1985, after his retirement, he and his family moved to Maine where he grew up. Ellery and his wife continued with their music, performing and teaching until he became ill in 1991. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Roberta Tuck; children, Elizabeth, Ellery III, Aileen, Eric, Stephanie, Erica, Alex and Jason; grandchildren, Dominique, Eric, Ellery IV, Sara, Brian, Brittaney, Brooke, Krista, Zackery, McKenzie, Tory and Bee; sister, Avery Stone; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Jeremy. Special thanks to Michelle for her love and support.
