SULLIVAN – Elmer E. Tracey Sr., 84, died Saturday, May 26, 2007. He died peacefully at an Ellsworth health care facility. He was born Nov. 14, 1922, in Jonesboro, the son of the late Lawrence M. and Lucy M. (Fish) Tracey. He proudly served our great country in World War II, while a member of the U.S. Navy. He served as a Seabee in the Pacific. He was honorably discharged in 1945. After returning home, he did as many local people do he enjoyed working outside. He was fortunate to try his hands at building bridges, carpenter work, wood harvesting and lobstering. He found great enjoyment in gardening, bowling, playing pool and horseshoes. He enjoyed spending time with fellow veterans and was instrumental in the forming of the American Legion Hancock Memorial Post No. 207, Trenton. He had the honor of being very first commander of that post. He was a deacon at the Sullivan Baptist Church and enjoyed his faith and was happy to say that he was a Christian. He served many years in the church, enjoying friends and fellowship that he was fortunate to have. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Corinne (Grant) Tracey and together they had six children. He was predeceased by his eldest daughter, Ramona Tracey Moore; and three siblings, Kenneth Tracey of McKinley, Kathleen (Tracey) Booze of Ellsworth, and Betty (Tracey) Damm of Southwest Harbor. He is survived by his remaining five children, Elmer E. Tracey Jr. and wife, Helen, of Prospect Harbor, Lawrence O. Tracey and wife, Roberta, of Sullivan, Levon Tracey Sr. and wife, Florice, of West Sullivan, Anita (Tracey) Warren and husband, Marcus, of Sullivan, and Lurene Tracey Mathews and son-in-law, David, of Sullivan; a brother, Harry Tracey of Seal Cove; and a special nephew, Leslie Grant. He has many grandchildren and was blessed to know many of his great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 31, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Milbridge, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 1.
