MATTAWAMKEAG – Elsie M. Sweeney, 85, wife of Carl Sweeney, passed away Feb. 13, 2008, at a Lincoln health care facility. She was born Dec. 4, 1922, in Mattawamkeag, the daughter of Bernard E. and Inez H. (Knights) Glidden. Elsie worked for many years at Forster Manufacturing Co., Inc. She also owned and operated a donut shop in Mattawamkeag for a time. In addition to her husband, Carl, she is survived by three sisters, Hazel Fleming of Woodville, Mary Barton and Norma Robichaud, both of Mattawamkeag; one nephew and four nieces. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Leon Robinson officiating. Spring interment will be at Mattawamkeag Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Mattawamkeag United Methodist Church.
