EXETER – Elwood F. Field, 72, died March 25, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. He was born May 25, 1933, at Dexter, a son of Grover Cleveland and Angeline Morrow (Winchester) Field. He had been a resident of Exeter Mills for 31 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Elwood will be remembered for shoeing horses at racetracks around the area and was employed at Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna. He is survived by his wife, Vivian (Woodard) Field of Exeter; a son, Robert Field of Bucksport; two daughters, Sharon Batchelder of Exeter and Helen Grass of Lincoln; a stepson, Leon Maloon of Exeter; a foster daughter, Lisa Bemis of Garland; two sisters, Edith Davis of Waterville and Vesta Clukey of Dexter; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He will also be sadly missed by two dear friends, Clyde Thompson and Ricky Woodbury. At his request there will be no services. Burial will be in the Maine Veteran’s Cemetery, Augusta.
