WINTHROP and PRESQUE ISLE – Emma Louise (Laflin) Davis, 100, died Jan. 10, 2004, at Nicholson’s Long Term Care in Winthrop. Louise was born May 29, 1903, in Portland, the daughter of William and Kathryn (Laughlin) Laflin. She attended schools in Presque Isle and graduated from Presque Isle School in 1922. On March 21, 1928, she married Ralph W. Davis of Houlton. Louise was a talented seamstress and a gracious and caring lady. She worked for a division of General Motors for 25 years. She resided in Bristol, Conn., for 62 years, and spent summers in Maine. She is survived by three nieces and their families, Alice (Laflin) Irvine of Winthrop, Constance (Laflin) Patterson of Presque Isle, and Harriett (Laflin) Martin of Augusta. She was predeceased by her husband on Jan. 24, 1962; and by her brothers, William, Gordon, Austin and Richard. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 16, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. Robert Grove-Markwood officiating. Spring interment will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle.
