MERRILL – Emogene Madeline (Russell) Furrow, 80, died March 10, 2005, at Houlton. She was born Nov. 23, 1924, at Island Falls, the daughter of Zadoc and Edith Mabel (Chambers) Russell. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. “Em” enjoyed her family, camp, watching wild birds, and quilting with her sisters. She is survived by her husband, Hubert Athel Furrow Jr., of Merrill. The couple were united in marriage on June 27, 1942 and they shared 62 years together. She is also survived by four children, Mary Jane and her husband, Keith Greenlaw, of Smyrna Mills, Lenora Marie Furrow of East Windsor, Conn., Melanie and her husband, Raymond Carmichael of Littleton, Arthur Wood Furrow of Hot Springs, Ark.; six stepgrandchildren, Larry and Ursula Greenlaw of Oakfield, Bill and Kathy Colfer of Manchester, Maine, Keith Jr. and Robin Greenlaw of Winterport; great-grandchildren, Michael and Lynn Greenlaw of Fort Fairfield, Kenneth Greenlaw of Merrill, Jay and Michelle “Mitsy” Lee of Smyrna, Peggy and Edward, and Brian Furrow of Connecticut, Kent and Lori DeMerchant of Caribou, Scott and Amy Harris of Augusta, Randy Carmichael of Littleton; great-stepgrandchildren, Aaron, Jill, Ryan, Suzanne, and Morgan Greenlaw, Nick Alexander, Emily Colfer; great-grandchildren, Leslie Greenlaw, Ian, Keegan, and Lindsay Gardner, Josh Flannery, Hannah, Madelyn and Isaac Lee, Dustin, Kyleigh Emma, Kaden DeMerchant, Hannah R. and Jacob Harris; one great-great-granddaughter, Delany Greenlaw; five sisters and one twin, Eugenia Phelps, Drusilla Ewings, Florence Noyes, Lucille Mitchell, all of Merrill, and Shirley Roy of Oakfield; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; six brothers, Zadoc, Walter Leroy, George, Herbert, Daniel, and Horace; and two sisters, Clara and Blanche; one great-granddaughter, Jenna; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday. Spring interment will be in the Merrill Cemetery. “May the peace of the white dove be with each and everyone – Que Sera, Que Sera”
