BANGOR – Ernest F. Bowden Jr., 84, died peacefully in his sleep Sept. 3, 2007, at his home. He was born July 1, 1923, in Orrington, the son of Ernest and Isie (Bowden) Bowden Sr. Ernest was a graduate of Bangor High School, Class of 1941. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a radar crewman. Ernest was a member of Bangor Advent Christian Church and spent most of his life as a self-employed master electrician. He enjoyed spending time with his family, wood working and making many projects for his children and grandchildren, and also loved doing crossword puzzles. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Gladys (Gibbons) Bowden of Bangor; three daughters, Donna Corson of Bangor, Kim and her husband, Dean Andrews, of Levant and Dolly Johnson; four sons, Dwight Bowden, Mitchell Bowden of North Carolina, Randy Bowden and his wife, Terry, of Florida, and Robert Crooker and his companion, Judy, of Connecticut; several grandchildren, great-grand-children, nieces and nephews. Ernest had a special bond with three of his closest grandchildren, Pam Roach of Bangor, Joshua and Ashley Andrews of Levant; and two great-grand-children, Alexis Marie and Cody Allen Roach. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, with the Rev. Clayton Blackstone, pastor of Bangor Advent Christian Church, officiating. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor.
