MEDWAY – Ernest T. “Ernie” Thompson, 57, died unexpectedly Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007, at a Millinocket hospital. He was born April 11, 1949, in Millinocket, the son of Allen and Grace (Campbell) Thompson. Ernie graduated from Schenck High School, Class of 1968. He then began his employment with Great Northern Paper Co., before serving two years in the U.S. Army. After his tour of duty, he returned to the East Millinocket mill, where he has continued to work for the last 39 years. At the time of his death, Ernie was head woodhandler. He was very devoted to his family and always put their needs ahead of his own. Ernie could always be depended upon to lend a hand where it was needed, after he had his cup of coffee! He was a past president of the Schenck High School Booster Club and was a member of the Medway Volunteer Fire Department for 28 years. Ernie is survived by his wife of 35 years, Adrienne (Des-chenes) Thompson of Medway; two children, Brian Thompson of Somerville, Mass., and April Thompson of Portland; two sisters, Nancy Emery of Medway and Jane Rudge and her husband, Clayton, of Millinocket; two brothers, Gary Thompson and his wife, Holly, of Milo, and Allen Thompson of Greenville, N.C. He will also be missed by many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Ernie was predeceased by a brother, Winslow Thompson. Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Bouchard – Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where the Daughters of Isabella, St. Ann’s Circle, will conduct a rosary service 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 58 Cedar St., East Millinocket, with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presiding. Spring interment will be at East Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Ernie may be sent to the Katahdin Area Support Group, 10 Field St., Millinocket, ME 04462.
