GREENVILLE – Ethel Cole McIver, 85, loving wife of the late William F. McIver, died Feb. 2, 2004, in Greenville at C.A. Dean Memorial Nursing Home. She was born in Greenville, June 24, 1918, the daughter of Walter H. and Margaret (Monroe) Cole. Ethel graduated from Greenville High School in 1935. In 1941, she married William F. McIver. Although she lived most of her life in Greenville, in later life she and her husband Bill lived for 18 years at Oakes Manor in Sangerville. Ethel especially enjoyed spending time with family at camp on Upper Wilson Pond. She was employed in the offices of Atlas and Stover Plywood companies and at W.L. Bartley, Inc. for many years. She was a member and past president of the Cecil R. Cole Post No. 94, American Legion Auxiliary. She was past matron of Mowidausis Chapter No. 188, O.E.S. of Greenville and a member of Susie Carr Chapter No. 181, O.E.S. of Sangerville. She was a member of the former Lakeside Rebekah Lodge No. 116 of Greenville and Golden Link Rebekah Lodge of Guilford. She was a long time member of the Union Evangelical Church of Greenville. She is survived by one son, Franklin Cole McIver and his wife, Linda, of Shawmut; one daughter, Lane McIver Chamberlain and her husband, Deane of Jackman; five grandchildren, Melissa Robinson, Katherine McIver, William McIver, Jane Babik, and Forrest Chamberlain; two great-granddaughters, Meghan Nutter and Emma Robinson; one great-grandchild soon to be born, one sister Lola Marsh of Gorham; many nieces, nephews, dear cousins, and McIver family in-laws. She was predeceased by her husband, William in 2000; her brother, Harrison A. Cole and his wife, Mildred, and brother-in-law, Linwood Marsh. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2004 at the Union Evangelical Church in Greenville followed by burial in the family lot in Greenville Cemetery.
