ALLAGASH – Ethel J. Hafford, who was born March 28, 1930, the daughter of Fred and Jeanette (Brownell) Hafford, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, and joined her loving husband of 51 and one half years, Calvin W. Hafford, Jan. 16, 2008. Ethel was proud of her family and often said how blessed she’d been. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and a caring, concerned person to all with whom she came into contact. Ethel enjoyed cooking, knitting, gardening and canning. Her kitchen and home were opened to many throughout the years as she blessed all with cookies, cakes, pies, breads, boiled dinners and roasts. She also warmed many hands and feet with woolen mittens and socks. She was a member of Allagash Pentecostal church for more than 40 years. She is survived by four children, Donna and her husband, Wendell Bartlett, of North Anson, Thelma and her husband, David O’Neal II, of Wanchese, N.C., Herschel and his wife, Sue Hafford, of East Millinocket, and Hilton and his wife, Bonnie Hafford, of Allagash; grandchildren, Mark and Roger Bartlett, David and Chad O’Neal, Travis Hafford, Heather Jane and her husband, Jesse Jandreau, Dustin Hafford, Casey Hafford and his companion, Becky Nystrom, Billy Hafford and his fiance, Cassie Ouellette; and nephew, to whom she was “Grammie,” Jo Daniel Hafford; many other nieces and nephews, who were all special, and more friends than we can count. She is also survived by three brothers, Clifford, James and Curtis Hafford; and two sisters, Bernice Hafford and Priscilla Thibodeau. Friends may gather 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m.-noon Saturday until time of service at Allagash Pentecostal Church. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the church with Pastors Tim Shaw, Herschel Hafford and Vinal Wilcox officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to I Care Ministries Food Pantry, 45 Spring St., Millinocket, ME 04462. Envelopes will be available at the church. After the service, all are invited to the Allagash High School to continue the family gathering for refreshments. Arrangements are a service of Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home of Fort Kent.
