PEMBROKE – Eugene Bernard Antone, 64, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at Eastport Memorial Nursing Home. Gene was born Nov. 21, 1943, in Pembroke, son of the late Bernard and Christine (Gove) Antone. Upon graduating from Pembroke High School, he entered the U.S. Air Force, where he served four years with the military police. Gene returned home and started Leila’s Donuts, Perry. In the 1970s, Gene sold the donut shop and started Triangle AG Store, Pembroke, which he owned and operated for more than 35 years. Gene enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling and raising beagles. Surviving are his wife of more than 21 years, Aud (Lonseth) Antone; two children, Matthew Antone and his wife, Kaye, and Bernard Antone, both of North Carolina; their mother, Caroline Griffin of Ellsworth; four grandchildren, Asia Maya, Oro, C.J. and Alexis; two sisters, Beverly Hanscom and her husband, Ivan, of Marshfield, and Virginia Donovan of Calais; nephew and nieces, Brian Donovan and his wife, Brenda, of Calais, Christine Henry and her husband, Courtney, of Crawford, Bradford Hanscom and his wife, Lisa, of Virginia, and Grant Hanscom and his wife, Gracie, of Marshfield; great-nieces and great-nephews, Stephanie, Brianna, Jacob, Leslie, Christopher, Haley and Hannah; four stepchildren, Ailine Helms and her husband, Theo, of Michigan, Ronald Rambjor of Old Town, Kenneth Rambjor and his wife, Terri, of Florida, and Karin Lingley and her husband, Alvery, of Pembroke; and five stepgrandchildren, Trina, Leif, Emma, Taylor, and his special buddy, Nathaniel. Friends may call 1-2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, at Pembroke United Methodist Church, Little Falls Road, Pembroke, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. with Pastor Bernie Hammond officiating. A spring graveside service will be held at Clarkside Cemetery, Pembroke.
