LAMBERT LAKE – Eugene R. “Genie” Cropley passed away peacefully Monday, March 26, 2007, at a Bangor hospital, with his loving family by his side, after a long illness. He was born Oct. 19, 1942, in Danforth, the son of Grover “Frenchie” and Arlena (Young) Cropley Sr. Genie was a 1961 graduate of Danforth High School. He worked for Georgia Pacific in the woods department and later for Thomas Dicenzo Construction, as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. Genie’s family meant everything to him. He also loved to dance, shoot darts and play cribbage. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Linda (Mills) Cropley; two daughters, that he adored, and a son-in-law, that was like a son to him, Crystal and Greg Grass and Star Cropley, all of Lambert Lake; two grandsons, that were the apples of his eye, Matthew Grass and his fianc?e, Jill McLaughlin, of Lincoln, and Joshua Grass and his girlfriend, Charlotte Peck, of Lambert Lake; two brothers and their wives, Alston and Maxine Cropley of Lambert Lake, and Leslie and Peggy Cropley of Staffordville, Conn.; one sister and her husband, Loretta and Wayne deLong of Bridgewater; four sisters-in-law and their husbands, Annette Blair of Vanceboro, Sharon and Dean McPhee of Brewer, Joyce and Donald MacKay of McAdam, New Brunswick, and Leone Cropley of Danforth; one brother-in-law and his wife, Keith and Linda Mills of Clifton; one aunt, Mary Cropley of Danforth; one uncle, Don Moody of Houlton, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; four brothers, Omer Cropley Sr., Vernon “Denny” Cropley, Leroy “Roy” Cropley and Grover “Mickey” Cropley Jr.; one sister, Elizabeth Cropley; and his mother-in-law, Betty Mills. A celebration of Genie’s life will be held 1 p.m. April 7, at Vanceboro Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ellen Beairsto officiating. Interment will be at Vanceboro Cemetery.
