BUCKSPORT – Evelyn Bertha (Bryant) Bennett, 87, stepped into heaven surrounded by her loving family, Aug. 22, 2007, at a Bangor hospital after a long illness. She was born Jan. 6, 1920, in Shirley, the daughter of Earl and Elvira Bryant. She was a longtime member of the North Bucksport Methodist Church. Evelyn enjoyed her beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, knitting, playing bingo, playing bridge, and her flower gardens. She was a good caregiver and a great friend to all. Evelyn was the loving and devoted wife of 65 years to her husband, Edwin “Ted” Bennett of Bucksport. She is survived by her children, Jeri (Bennett) Stuart and husband, Larry, of Gorham, Jeffrey Bennett and his wife, Carolyn, of East Orland, and Jana (Bennett) Turner and husband, Lloyd, of East Orland. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, Laurie McAllian, Jeffrey Bennett, Melissa Fairfield, Lynnette Libby, Stephen Bennett, Tammy Light, Karen Moran, Jason Bennett, Jamie Fairfield, Cory Bennett, and Michael Stuart; 23 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Dora Wyman, Alice Lee, Mildred Welch, Betty Willett, and her twin sister, Ethelyn Bryant; her brothers, John Bryant, Edward and Edwin Meservey; her son, James “Jimmy” Bennett; a granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Moran; many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all of her caregivers for their tender loving care. Visiting hours will be held 6-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, where a celebration of her life will be held 7 p.m. A committal service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, at Riverview Cemetery, Bucksport, with Pastor Jan Rhenow officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the James E.
